Yogurt, avocados, raw eggs, and beer—these are typical food items you can find in the fridge and pantry, but they also happen to be ingredients for lustrous and healthy looking hair.

Using strange food items on your hair may seem like a bad idea, but these may help you steer clear of a bad hair day. What’s great is that the ingredients are within arm’s reach; you don’t have to go to the grocery store because you probably already have them in your kitchen!

Avocado

Did you know that the oil in avocados closely resembles a human skin oils compared those in chemical products? A hair care treatment using avocados may just make your dry and brittle hair fully revitalized.

Blend the avocado chunks with some drops of peppermint, olive, or almond oil, and mix until you get an avocado puree. Shampoo your hair, squeeze out the water, and apply the puree starting from the hair roots to the tips. Leave it for about 15 minutes, and then rinse. Your hair will come out super soft with an added pleasant scent of sweet avocado.

Yogurt

Air pollution and chemical-ridden styling products damage the hair, removing its moisture and shine. Yogurt contains lactic acid, which cleanses the hair, and milk fat, which helps bring back the hair’s moisture. It can also control greasy hair by washing away excess oil.

For a yogurt hair treatment, simply massage yogurt into your damp hair and leave it for about 20 minutes. Rinse your locks with warm water, followed by cold water.

Raw Eggs

Eggs are not only the best source of protein for the body, but for the hair as well. They are rich in fat-soluble vitamins and fatty acids, making them one of the best ingredients for hair care treatments. They also have a cleansing and conditioning effect, perfect for just any type of hair.

Beat the eggs until frothy, and apply it to your hair and scalp. Cover your hair with a shower cap and let it sit for about 30 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly with shampoo.

Beer

If you have flat hair, add body to your locks using a strange beauty potion—beer! The drink contains a generous amount of yeast, perfect for flat and tired tresses.

Pour beer into a cup and let it sit for a couple of hours until there are no more bubbles. Mix the drink with raw egg and a teaspoon of sunflower or canola oil. Apply the mixture after your regular shampoo routine. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, and then rinse. The proteins and chemicals found in the beer help add body to your hair.

With these homemade hair masks and a few changes to the way you manage your locks, you can say goodbye to dry hair and say hello to beautiful and revitalized tresses!
